Set up and manage storage

Deathpile separates three physical ideas:

The storage overview, with capacity shown per unit.

• A location is a room or area.
• A container type describes a reusable kind of tub, shelf, or rack and its estimated capacity.
• A storage unit is the numbered physical container that holds stock.

Add storage records

1. Open Settings > Storage.
2. Create the location.
3. Create the container type and set its capacity.
4. Add each physical unit with the identifier printed on the real object.

Place or move stock

Space has two views. To put away lists everything with no tub yet. Tubs shows how much room each tub has, location by location.

To put something away:

1. Open Space. It opens on To put away while anything is waiting.
2. Open the item. Its size and count are filled in from the item. Pick a size if it hasn't got one, because room is worked out from size.
3. The tubs it fits come up tightest fit first, so tubs fill up before new ones get started. Put it in the physical tub, then press Put in on the one you used.
4. If you'd rather choose, use Every tub, or Scan a tub instead to read the tub's label with your phone camera or a scanner.

The next item opens straight away, so a pile of new stock is one tap each.

To move something, open the tub from Tubs (or scan its label), then press Move next to the item. The same ranked list comes up, without the tub it's already in.

Room shows as a bar of ten cells. Seven filled is nearly full, and eight or more is full or close. It's an estimate, so a tub that looks full can still take something small, and Deathpile asks before putting an item in a tub it probably won't fit.

Change a storage record

Edit names and capacity in Settings > Storage. Before removing or repurposing a physical unit, move its items so they do not lose their known location.
